LUMHS Post RN BSN Nursing

Post RN BSN Nursing program is a two year program designed to give an opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge and skills to the experienced Registered Nurses needed to practice nursing care as clinically competent professional nurses. Graduates will be able to provide leadership and influence the development of the nursing profession in Pakistan.

Upon completion of the program, nurses are able to utilize critical thinking in providing holistic nursing care and play a role as change agents in nursing practice and education in any health care setting.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants of Post RN BSN Nursing Degree Program must meet the following General criteria for admission in the program & may include or extended by the administrative authority of their College of Nursing:

ü Complete Secondary School Certificate SSC (Science Group with biology)

ü Complete Diploma in General Nursing – 3 Years

ü Complete Midwifery diploma or post basic specialty

ü Hold current valid registration license in their country of residence from their Nursing Council. As in for Pakistan the license body is Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC)

ü Documentary evidence of minimum two years of clinical experience

BACKGROUND

JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROGRAM

This program is expected to prepare a clinical nurse, nurse teacher and nurse administrator with in shortest period of time and to provide base for higher education in the field of nursing to those who are already practicing nursing in health care delivery system in the country.

EXPECTED OUT COME

Result in quality of patient's care in hospital and in community will be improved, standard of nursing education will be enhanced and the learner will also be prepared for effective nursing management and administration.

Our aim is to promote awareness of higher education to qualified nurses and facilitate the professional development, strengthen the health care devilry system and improve nursing education by preparing competent nurse educators and nurse managers, who could utilize evidence based practice.

Strengthen the quality of teaching in nursing education, management in hospitals and in community setting through teaching of current concepts and skills. POST RN BSN NURSING SCOPE FOR NURSES

The course of study globally may called Post RN B.Sc Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc in Nursing / B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic) or Post BSc Nursing / post-basic RN baccalaureate in nursing program or Post RN BS Nursing.

Post RN BSN nursing education is aimed to build upon the skills and competencies acquired at the Diploma in nursing level. The course is intended to enable the graduates to assume responsibility as professional competent nurses at basic level in providing promote, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services. Make independent decisions in nursing circumstances, protect the rights of individual or group in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community nursing services, and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are also expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor and manager in clinical/public health settings.

Post RN BSN nursing Program equivalent to BSN nursing is intended to provide an opportunity to a large segment of in-service nurses to upgrade their knowledge, thinking skills, competencies and standards required for practice of professional nursing and midwifery as envisaged in National Health Policy . Post RN BSN nursing respond to the changing health needs of society, to motivate nurses to maintain clinical competence, to provide quality care, to develop teaching, administrative and research skills and to promote personal and professional growth for better promotional opportunities. . Post RN BSN nursing is specifically directed to the upgrading of critical and Assume responsibilities as professional competent nurses and midwives at basic level in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
