COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to assist students to identify and
understand one’s and others leadership style; power & authority and
motivational theories. A managers’ responsibility in directing is to deal with
conflict, motivation and disciplining staff, all of these tasks require
knowledge in conflict resolution; communication and assertiveness skills.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Discuss leadership styles and assess motivational factors
using Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and Herzberg’s two factor theory.
2. Identify steps in problem solving.
3. Discuss the concept of creativity in management.
4. Utilize conflict resolution strategies in solving
problems.
5. Identify the sources of power.
6. Utilize effective communication skill in management.
TEACHING LEARNING STRATEGIES:
Lecture, discussion, and small group sessions will be used
as teaching leaning strategies.
