COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The
purpose of this course is to prepare the student teacher to recognize and
respond appropriately to assist students to learn successfully. The factors
affecting learning such as motivation, age, gender, intelligence, learning
disability, anxiety, self- concept and self-esteem will be discussed. The
student will also be able to recognize the effects of group behavior on
achievement and discipline in the classroom setting and student will be
provided with strategies for positive climate setting for learning.
OBJECTIVES:
At the
completion of the course, the participants will be able to;
ü Describe
four types of learning theories.
ü Propose
teaching strategies that reflect each type of learning theory.
ü Describe
the conditions that effect learning.
ü Develop
a strategy to enhance learning in response to the condition that is affecting a
student’s success in learning.
ü Describe
methods to use in setting a positive climate for learning.
ü Identify
the effects of group behavior on achievement.
ü Propose
strategies to maintain student attention in the learning situation.
